5,000 Irish got Australian Permanent Resident Visa in 2013

imagesA report of the Australian Immigration shows a serious increase of the skilled migrant visas granted to Irish skilled people. About 5,000 Irish people became permanent residents in Australia in 2013. This includes approx. 1,650 family members accompanying them Down Under.

The largest percent of these people is qualified accountants, engineers, nurses, electricians, carpenters and joiners. This report also shows that Irish guys prefer Western Australia and New South Wales as initial destinations to settle down.

Last year, about 12,000 Irish got their first year working holiday visa, and another 11,000 skilled people got a temporary work visa.

In comparison to the above, about 500 Irish, one third of them professionals left Australia for good last year. Half of them were planning to return back to Ireland.

Because of the Australia’s favourable economic conditions, more and more Irish skilled people are making their minds to start a new life there. According to this report, Irish consider Australia as the third most desired country for permanent residency after the UK and USA.
