IELTS Test Required for UK Visas

2.5 million IELTS tests have been taken throughout 2014The International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the most popular English language test, becomes the only English language test accepted for all UK visas as of April, 6th. A new test called Life Skills test will be introduced along with the General and Academic IELTS. This Life Skills test will be suitable for visa applications where lower English level is required. All UK visa candidates will be offered to pass the IELTS test in one of the 100 designated locations across the world.

What is IELTS?

It’s a test system with overall of 25 years history and accepted by more than 9,000 organisations, employer, governments and universities all over the world. IELTS test include listening, reading, writing and speaking. You may need to pass IELTS even if you are a native speaker as part of your visa application. The total time to pass the test is 2 hours and 45 mins. Scores are from one to nine (the highest score).

No limit on the number of times you can pass IELTS test. If you are not happy with your current scores, you can register for a new one once you feel ready. The validity of the test result depends on the organisation you want to use it for. Most authorities won’t accept it if it has been issued more than 2 years ago.
