USA will launch new website to help foreign entrepreneurs who are looking for US visa
The Government of United States decided to provide an additional help for foreigners, who need to navigate through the US immigration system in order to move to USA and start a business there. During the last week the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) launched a website called “Entrepreneur Pathways”, which helps to foreign businessmen to understand what immigration options are available for them. The new site allows foreigners to make a better decision which visa suits best their needs and gives them a detailed description of the requirements they need to fulfill in order to apply.
The new site is a part of a wider initiative of the United States government which hopes to attract more foreign start-ups to boost the troubled by the financial crisis US economy.
“Through our innovative Entrepreneurs in Residence initiative, we are working to realise our current immigration system’s full potential to attract and retain start-up enterprises that promote innovation and spur job creation in America,” said USCIS director Alejandro Mayorkas.
Some experts think that although the new changes are helpful, if the country wants to effectively target foreign entrepreneurs, some changes in the immigration law will be needed. Throughout the recent years USA has been criticized for its cumbersome immigration system that prevents a lot of foreign talent from settling into the country.
There is no specific visa for foreigners wanting to create start-ups, and those visas that do exist are often not viable. The EB-5 investor visa, for example, is usually priced at a prohibitively high $1 million. The E-2 investor visa requires less money, but is only available to individuals from certain countries, and does not lead to permanent residency.
